Nothing much new to see/hear here.....

Yesterday was the first date of the tour, this was the set list:

Excerpt from "The Rite of Spring"
Parallels
Tempus Fugit
Yours is No Disgrace
Soon
Close to the Edge
Steve solo: Leaves of Green/To Be Over
South Side of the Sky
Machine Messiah
Long Distance Runaround
Whitefish
Owner of a Lonely Heart
Starship Trooper
Roundabout

This was looking tired two years ago when they first hawked it around, now it's looking downright embarrassing.

For fuck's sake.

Will this evidence be enough finally to convince the Yes zealots of this band's shamelessly lazy attitude?

Don't answer that ...

Oh well, at least I don't need to worry about whether I'm missing out not seeing this 'tour'.

So, really then, the only new thing is the intro?

Haven't they played all the others to some degree since 2008?

Isn't this the one chance they may have had to open up a bit? Isn't the next tour with Styx and probably all hits? (I'm not keeping up on them anymore.--for all I know they have four more tours planned before the one with Styx).

What a snooze.

I'm not sure if the Styx thing is fact now, but this summer's tour is going to be in promotion of the new album. With that in mind, it doesn't leave much room for them to dust off some old gems. I mean they have to play Owner and Roundabibble right.... Big Grin

So glad I've decided to give this tour a miss.

I was at the 1st show on the Rite of Spring tour in Houston. This was the 2nd time I have seen this line-up with David.

The 1st time I saw this line-up in early 2010 I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. The band was on and the crowd was into the show. This time it was a mini-disaster. The band was out of sorts and the tempo was off and the crowd was sitting on their hands most of the show. I left before the encores and it will be the last time I see Yes with this line-up.

Not that David has not been a decent fill-in. He has done an admirable job but I have no desire to hear Yes music again without Anderson.

Squire is finished. It was painful watching him do his Whitefish solo and wondering if he was going to keel over due to his horrible physical condition. He can barely move anymore and was having trouble catching his breath at the end of the solo.

The band was disjointed and out of it probably due to the tension of firing Wakeman Jr. after the tour. Oliver played quite well though and was a highlight of the show.

No, my predition is unless the new album is a needle in the haystack or a hidden gem under a huge boulder that this tour in the summer will be the end of this line-up. I would not be surprised if you see Yes play to several hundred people by the time they reached their encores. Yes should do everyone a favor and play 1st before Styx every show.

Anyone know why Wakeman is out ??

As for Squire, he has been playing the same solo for 20 odd years, and it's not really that impressive

There was a coup by Trevor Horn. He was able to cut a deal with Squire. I will come and help out on the new album but you must replace Wakeman with Downes.

Papa Wakeman is mad as hell!

I read that Downes came in just to do the title track,, because he was involved when it was originally written

However, I can easily see Horn insisting on a total wipe out. Perhaps buggles is thicker than wakeman
