Just got back a week ago from a beautiful old fishing town of Roda on the north of Corfu.

We stayed in a hotel The Roda Garden Village which wasn't too bad.
Roda itself was a 10 minute walk away, the people so friendly.

Bars (tavernas) recommended are Smiley's where the food was quite exquisite. Fully recommend the chicken in lime.

Maggie's Bar is basically an English style bar run by ex-pats, the fish & chips (I know) are to die for. There are 3 different offerings of this platter small, medium & large.

Elaine had the small portion, I attempted the medium (I didn't finish it) so I dread to think what the large portion would be like.

The home country beer was Mythos, Elaine informs me it was excellent. Also on draught was Amstel, Guinness, John Smith's Bitter. We had a day out to Paxos & Anti-Paxos (will write about this later). The next village down from Roda is Acharavi, which is a little more modern. We had lunch in one of the tavernas, with Elaine opting for a "Gyro", which is a kebab. I (being the pig I am) had a mix grill Greek style.

The meats were tender & very juicy, the "burger" when cut into it was filled with feta cheese.

The weather was in the mid to high 30's, the coldest day was a shabby 27'C.

Will write more of our little jaunt later.  ('')

Back again.

We booked a day trip out to Paxos & Anti-Paxos. Paxos is the larger of the two islands which is literally covered in olive trees.

Paxos is a "posers" paradise, it is the place to be seen. Ya couldn't miss me !!.

Anti-Paxos is basically a vineyard. On approach to the island we were taken into the most amazing caves where the captain of the boat could literally turn the boat around. The water went from a deep blue to crystal clear within feet. Apparently the water went from around 900ft to 20ft in the length of a boat.

Anti-Paxos is a millionaires' playground, on sailing back to Paxos we passed the house of the owner of Juventus FC & the FIAT motor company that tells you about the wealth.

We stopped in Paxos for an hour to have lunch, I fell in love with a drink called a "frappe" which is basically ice cold coffee, mixed with chilled milk & water.

The population of the two islands out of season is no more than 300, but doubles in the holiday season.

More later ('')

Not much more to say really about Roda only that we are going back in 9 weeks.

The place captured me big style. We intend to go out further, into Sidari which is a 30 min bus ride.

Outside of our hotel if you looked to the right you could see the mountains of Albania.

Lou, photo's hopefully will be forthcoming. ('')
